The absolute best Thai food in NW Ohio!! Great owners, a cozy environment, highest quality food!
I went after work for some carry out last week. The food was amazing!!! This place has been around for years, I'm guessing since the early 90's. I used to go all the time, but then I started working in Maumee, so I always went to Bangkok Kitchen for my Thai cravings. Well, I don't work in Maumee anymore, so I had to find a place in West Toledo for Thai. There is a place at Sylvania and Secor, but it's really hit or miss. If the lady is there and cooking, you're fine. If it's the younger guy, go somewhere else. Anyway, I usually get some type of curry in Thai restaurants. Gaeng Gai or Gaeng Paa are my favorites, but any Thai curry is great if it's made right! Another favorite (guilty pleasure, very pedestrian, I know...) is the Pad Thai! OH, make sure to get some Tom Yum Goong (I believe that's the correct name for hot and sour soup)! Nectar of the Gods! So, I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken. It was on-par with Bangkok Kitchen's Pad Thai. In fact, when I got home and opened the container, it was arranged exactly as Bangkok does it! The Pad Thai in the middle with the bean sprouts in one corner and chopped peanuts in the other, wedge of lime in between. Very large portion too. It was extra spicy (as I ordered it) and just delicious! I didn't have a long wait, and the waitress was very accommodating. So, why 4 stars on not 5??? The interior of the place is kind of a mess. They're using a closet(?) by the entrance for storage. There's no door on it, so you can see all of the stuff just piled up. I think it was mostly consumable products for the restrooms, but a curtain over the door would be welcome. There's also a lot of "crap" in the bar area that just shouldn't be there. The bar is for customers, not storage. I kind of remember the place being this way years ago, and I thought it was just a transitional thing. I guess not! So, atmosphere doesn't really bother me as long as I'm at a place where is doesn't/shouldn't count. Food trucks, fast food, gas stations, etc. This is a sit-down, kind of nice place with a wait staff, low lights, carpet, etc. The "supply chain department" should be spilling into the dining room. Just my opinion. I'll certainly keep this in mind for future Thai needs. GREAT FOOD!!!
Service for to go was slow but they were slammed for dinner rush. The pad see ew I ordered was beyond perfect and they were very sorry for the delay! I would recommend eating here for sure
As a Thai, this restaurant surpassed my expectation of Thai food abroad especially in Ohio. It's definitely not what you would get in Thailand but it turned out great. I enjoyed the restaurant's decoration; it's perfect for a date night. I went on a Monday and it was busy with 2 large parties. This would be more of a complain because I miss Thai food than a review... For appetizer, we ordered Tod Mun. The taste was there but it was smaller than I thought. It also tasted frozen to me. My friend really enjoyed Thai iced tea but for me it has to much of vanilla taste than it should. What I really like was their TomKhaGai. The soup was heavenly. One comment I had was that the soup can be thicker. Our main dish was the Pla Sam Roud. The catfish is one of my favorite fish so I was a little disappointed. However the sauce and the stir fried base was there. Overall I wasn't satisfied with my Thai food craving but this can do. I had a good time with my friend and the whole experience was fantastic.
By far the best Thai food in this area without a doubt. The food is amazing. The staff is very nice and the service is excellent. beware if you ask for spicy or extra spicy. They will light you up. Medium to medium spicy is the best. give it a try and you won't be sorry.
Went to dinner on a Sunday evening after several hours of working in the yard mowing and getting leaves raked then to the curb. Didn't leave time for us to make dinner, so we leaned into Yelp for assistance. Had a craving for Chinese food. When I did a search on Yelp, Rose-Thai Restaurant had some decent reviews, and the overall score was good. Thought what the heck, why not? Ambiance was comfortable and welcoming The food was very good! We started off with the Shrimp Ball appetizer - let's just say, different, but good. For dinner, we ordered the Pad See-ew with chicken and Pad Prew Waan with scallops. We enjoyed our meals very much. By the time we were served our dinners, the dining area was almost full. There were only 2 servers, so they were busy, to say the least. With all that said, our service was still good. That is good, not great, and not terrible, but good. We clear on that one? Prices were fair. We will be back at Rose-Thai Restaurant again; no questions asked.
Bomb chicken satay!! Very quiet restaurant... which is nice actually. Good service also
I reached out to local Toledo Yelper, Mike P. and asked for some Thai restaurant recommendations. Rose-Thai was one of his favorites. It's an old-school style Thai restaurant that's nice enough but is definitely showing some wrinkles and sag. For lunch, I opted for a Singha beer, Tom Yum Ga, and Chicken Pad Thai. My take on the soup was that it was pretty standard. IE I mean, I've had better, and I've had worse. Can't beat it for the price, though, $4. The Pad Thai? It's pretty good, but not great. I found it to be a little heavy and could have used more vegetables. It was also a little saucy as the multiple splatters on my shirt would attest to. The flavor of this dish and the tenderness of the noodles were spot on though. It was cheaper than most places at just $8.99, so I really can't complain. Service was good, and my food was nicely paced so that I could enjoy my meal without being rushed. It's about a 3.5ish kind of place. If I lived in the area, I'd give them some business from time to time. Good recommendation. Mike P.!
One thing that you don't have to worry about with Rose-Thai is contracting the "virus-of-unknown-origin" from other customers in the dining room...cuz there usually ain't any. Now, that's a wee bit of hyperbole, but I'd imagine that Rose-Thai stays in business primarily through a brisk take-out biz. This place really should be busier, COVID fears notwithstanding, because the food is, in my opinion, better than what you'll find at Bangkok Kitchen, on Dussel. Menu items are just plain tastier...at any spice/heat level. Speaking of heat? Need an ice cold lager to extinguish the flames on your tongue? They have Singha, et al. Need some caffeine for an all nighter? Thai Iced Tea at your service! The service is always friendly and accurate, but kitchen can be a little slow...this is the kind of place we come when we're NOT in a hurry. The one time we did come here when they were busy, they were (relatively) understaffed and our waitress wasn't as attentive as she should have been. Of course, it really wasn't her fault. If you'd like a mixed drink, or some other form of spirits, Rose-Thai has a small but (reasonably) complete bar. Prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is cozy. I'd opt for 4 stars but my kids insist on 5!
